ONE BIG DISGUISE

The new CD, One big Disguise, has been mixed now and we've got the completed cover artwork from an artist in the States (more info on him and the cover later). But if you want to whet your appetite we have a video for 'Pretty' online now. Just go to YouTube by CLICKING HERE and enjoy. Most of the footage is from a gig at The Twist in Colchester but there are some snippets from the studio too. We're putting together a full video diary about the making of the CD which we hope to include as an extra to the audio tracks. It's going to be a great package so watch this space or sign up for the email list for further info.

New CD for 2007

We'll be going back into the studio at the beginning of April to work on a new release for the summer. This time we're recording at Trinity Heights Studios in Newcastle with producer Fred Pursar, guitarist with 70s cult rockers The Tygers of Pan Tang. The studio is used by TV and Film companies, as well as many record companies and is completely residential so we can even do a gig in the area while we're staying there. This will be the first official recording with Rich so we're really looking forward to getting this CD released with the current line-up and the new songs. More news in the summer. [posted 20/01/07]

Happy 2007

It's been a great year for Jack's Family with many more gigs all over the country and new songs ready for recording in 2007. Thankyou to everyone who has come to see us, enjoyed the music and emailed us over the past year. We have some great people helping us out with new bookings including Eric from Soundwave and we'd also like to say a big thanks to Jon at Hark To Towler for getting the ball rolling - you're a star! Hope to catch you all soon but have a great New Year's Eve wherever you are and come back to see us soon. X JF.[posted 31/12/06]

Live Broadcast

We're going to be playing our first gigs on The Wirral in October (see Gig Guide) with two in a row at Hotel California. For those interested the first is going to be broadcast on the internet. Just tune in via www.aiiradio.net on Thurs October 26th and you'll hear the gig in all its glory or if you're in the area, come along! Thanks to Jon at Hark to Towler, and Eric at Soundwave Promotions for helping get this together for us.

The following night we play the Friday Rock Night with friends Obsessive Compulsive as well as the mighty Epic Hero Cycle. If you can't make Thursday come along on Friday. You won't regret it.[posted 04/10/06]

New merch!

Yes, in a bid to save up enough money to buy a private jet we have new stuff for sale in the shop. Not only can you get a new photo of the band looking as bewildered as ever, but we also have some great new lighters for sale with the band logo on - surely the only reason NOT to give up smoking! COME BUY, COME TRY as they say on the market on Portobello Road. [posted 05/09/06]

Thankyou for taking us to the Top 10

We set up a web page at a new band site called pzaaz.com earlier in the year and lo and behold, we got into their top 10 downloads with Still there's a Smile and the No.1 downloaded photo! Thanks to everyone who took the time to log on and take a look. Our page is www.pzaaz.com/jacksfamily if you missed it. [posted 11/08/06]

MySpace

We've just started to get MySpace sorted out after being completely luddite about it for months. Some of the band members have their own pages (see seperate biog pages) and the Jack's Family page is being run by our good friend Jamie (www.myspace.com/gothicsa7an666) who is the dog's gonads when it comes to that sort of stuff. Hopefully in the future we'll get more photos, vids etc online. You can check it out at www.myspace.com/jacksfamilyuk.

We strongly advise you not to check out the person that managed to get our name before us GRRRRR... It couldn't be further from Jack's Family really www.myspace.com/jacksfamily. (You're going to do it now aren't you, disobedient children!) [posted 16/05/06]

Twist gig

Thanks to all the bands that played at the Twist. Trash Monroe, Die So Fluid and Obsessive Compulsive were all utterly brilliant and anyone who missed the gig missed an awesome line-up. However we're planning a big event later in the year to help the Colchester Rape Crisis Line, a cause we really believe in, and with all the bands keen to help out there may be a chance to see some, or all, again at a venue to be confirmed. Keep it here for more news. [posted 23/04/06]

Jean-Paul finger crunch

Reports are coming in that JF axeman Jean-Paul has attempted to remove a finger in a car door while holidaying in fashionable Torquay. Speculation that he was trying to emulate the antics of hobbit hero Frodo (of the 9 fingers) Baggins have been flatly denied by his press secretary but we're not so sure. The Twist gig will go ahead but Darren will be playing the guitar solos on a stylophone. (Actually that last bit might be a lie!) [posted 16/04/06]

New recordings on the way

It has been a while since the release of Man in the White Coat and a lot has happened in that time, with the arrival of Rich on bass and the writing of a number of new songs which are now established in the set. We've just completed a photo shoot in anticipation of a new EP which we begin pre-production on this week. We have several behind the scenes people working for us to place it into the hands of people we rarely get access to, and are already being contacted by radio stations in Europe keen to get in on the act.

In the meantime keep checking the gig list as we are planning a new series of dates, including a big benefit gig in the Colchester area. This is currently hush hush but if it comes off it's going to be an amazing night. [posted 23/02/06]

NOISY Fanzine

The Family are featured in the current issue of Noisy fanzine. This is a really great fanzine supporting independent music in Essex with a whole host of other great bands to look out for so why not get a copy, it's only 50p plus an A5 SAE, details at www.noisyzine.co.uk [posted 11/11/05]
